There is somewhat decent word that Obama had planned on announcing today, but decided that the meme from McCain’s “how many houses do I own, again?” blunder was too good and that they wouldn’t step on it by announcing a veep.
Along the same lines, Obama could hold off announcing tomorrow for the same reason if they have some good plans to expand on the “McCain is out of touch” meme. If the story survives strong after 2 days, it may survive a weekend VP announcement, and I’m sure that speaker after speaker will hit on the theme at the Democratic Convention.
Clearly, the Obama campaign is in meltdown… Firing off baseless and banal commercials in an attempt to divert attention to the fact Obama is plunging in the polls. And of course, the mainstream media is hellbent on coming to the campaign’s aid by trying to run as many anti-McCain stories as possible. (The Washington Post admitted on Sunday their own 3-to-1 coverage bias in favor of Obama.)
The Obama commercial that was thrown together this morning in a moment of desperation is in fact perpetuating a lie. McCain does not own 7 houses. The Obama campaign conveniently forgot to mention that it’s actually McCain’s wife who owns most of the seven properties.
The McCains’ property is mostly in the name of Cindy McCain, chairwoman of Hensley & Co, a huge Anheuser-Busch beer distributorship that was founded by her parents.
But the Dim-ocrats never let facts and reality get in the way of attacking and trying to smear John McCain. That’s why they find themselves plunging in the latest Zogby Poll.
Obama’s handlers are blowing a golden media opportunity by delaying their announcement of their pick of VP for Obama. They clearly have a fear of the person being vetted in public view this week and don’t want to risk dropping any further in the polls before the convention and want to use the camouflage of next week’s convention as political coverage.
Not exactly the way to ignite a fledging and failing campaign that is, in recent weeks, off message, out of sync, and at times, just stupid.

Oh, so it’s McCain’s wife who owns the houses. Well then, McCain has nothing to do with them then! *rolls eyes.* You’ve got to be kidding me. The point is that he’s out of touch, not even knowing how many houses he and his wife owns. If he doesn’t even know that, how is he supposed to know anything else?
Also, the GOP didn’t seem to consider Kerry’s wive’s things as not important in relation to Kerry, why should we treat McCain differently? They went to town over her three houses, saying that it made Kerry an elitist. Kerry has nothing on McCain.
P.S. Zogby appears to be an outlier, considering Obama is still ahead in most polls, including 3% leads in two even more recent polls (not even mentioning the fact that it’s well known that Zogby’s polls are basically crap anyway).
By the way, how wildly McCain responded today, it hardly looks like that they’re taking this as a wild and crazy attack. You only throw the kitchen sink and invoke McCain being a POW when you have no real answer.
