McCain already out with a lame Obama/Biden ad

23 08 2008

If this is the best they’ve got, we can rest pretty easy:

Announcer: What does Barack Obama’s running mate say about Barack Obama?

George Stephanopoulos: You were asked, “Is he ready?” You said, “I think he can be ready but right now, I don’t believe he is. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training.”

Joe Biden: I think that I stand by the statement.

Announcer: And what does he say about John McCain?

Joe Biden: I would be honored to run with or against John McCain, because I think the country would be better off.

So they’re going to take a quote by Biden more than a year old, when they were still at least 4 months from the first primaries and caucuses – a quote where Biden even says “I think [Obama] can be ready – and use it to attack?

It’ll take Biden about 5 seconds to say “over the past year, I think Barack Obama has clearly shown that he has the ideas and judgement to be President” and that ends that.  I wouldn’t be shocked if Biden comes out and says that this afternoon.

And, of course, if McCain picks Romney, it’s not like they haven’t had some battles themselves.

CNN says they’ve confirmed that it’s Obama/Biden

23 08 2008

CNN says that they have two sources who have confirmed that Obama has offered and Biden has accepted the spot as Barnacle of the United States.

Of course, they can’t say who they got the info from, but it isn’t really a surprise given what’s come out tonight.

Obama probably wishes that they could have kept it sealed through tomorrow, but that was asking quite a bit.  That’s why I think they should have sent out the text message earlier (also to string out the attention on the ticket) but it is what it is.
