McCain on Leno.

26 08 2008

John McCain notes that it’s his 13th time on Leno. But Obama is the celebrity.

Update:

My friends, my friends!

Update 2:

McCain sings the praises of Gov. Pawlenty.

Update 3:

McCain:

I’ll run a respectful campaign!

Too late.

Update 4:

McCain also talked about how much Obama and Biden are scary liberals.

Update 5:

Here it is:

Leno: What about those houses?

McCain: POW! POW! 5 1/2 years!

Blegh.

I like how it was Cindy’s father who made the American dream.  Cindy just got the benefits of her father’s work, and McCain is just milking off of it.

Update 6:

McCain: We don’t like negative ads. Our ads weren’t negative, they were funny!

You’ve got to be kidding me.

Now he’s complaining about Obama not doing town hall meetings.  Of course, Obama offered to do like 3, but that wasn’t enough for McCain (who wanted something like 10), and since McCain wouldn’t just do 3, Obama dropped it.

McCain’s lying about Obama not wanting to do town halls.

Update 7:

Ha!

Leno: Why don’t you pick Clinton as VP since you seem to like her so much

McCain: Sucks up to Clinton, but her positions are crap

Hear that PUMAs?  McCain just said he strongly disagreed with Hillary’s positions.  Are you sure you still want to vote for McCain?

Update 8:

McCain: Drill now! Woo! Wind! Solar! Nuclear!  Too bad McCain has a history of voting against alternative energy.

Oh god, McCain just remarked how France now has a “pro-American” president.  Yeah, our allies should really like that.

And it’s over.  Personally, I’m not sure what McCain got from this appearance.  No matter how hard he tries, he’s just not exciting.

Despite the Dems and the allied main stream media’s desperation to see Romney as McCain’s Veep, Mitt is clearly out, with (1) Obama doubling down on the class warfare theme (McCain’s 7 houses) and (2) McCain doubling down with ads showing the hypocrisy of Biden attacking Obama in the primaries — Romney did way more than that contra McCain.

This leaves only Govs Sarah Palin and Tim Pawlenty. Pro-abortion Ridge and Dem-Lieberman were never real considerations, despite relentless media goading. Pawlenty’s lackluster TV performances, coupled with Palin pizzazz, the primacy of oil drilling and the ticked off women/Hillary voters, does now portend a McCain/Palin checkmate on the Dems. This is so albeit the Dems and liberal media dare not mention Palin’s name, that is, everyone but…..

And if there’s any question as to Palin being uniquely positioned and able to more than nullify Biden in debate, see the excellent discussion at palinforvp.blogspot.com

Team McCain, well done!!!

Well, McCain’s 7 houses thing is more of an out of touch thing (and a response to McCain’s celebrity attacks, basically saying if anyone is the celebrity, it’s McCain)

I agree with the primary attacks thing, though. Mitt basically accused McCain of lying about his positions in the primary, which would be an easy attack ad to make.

Palin won’t be chosen since she’s currently involved in a scandal in Alaska. I’m not exactly sure that’s someone McCain wants to pick, especially given all the other GOP troubles in Alaska.

If she weren’t involved, then yes, I would agree that she had a good shot, but not now.
