First time I’ve ever read a blog.
I am pro choice, not pro abortion. No one wants to kill children. The answer is to eliminate unwanted pregnancy. To do that we have to admit that most kids by age 17 are having irresponsible sex and teach them to have sex without getting pregnant. Along the way teach that women are not just penile enclosures, babies are not solutions to vacant parents, children cost lots of money, and yes, that having sex to young with multiple partners does devalue your self image.
It’s time for all of you to stop talking about your own versions of the facts and start asking what you agree on. Is life important? Yes. But not just after inebriated sex in the back seat. Even Palin has to agree that given her daughter is pregnant, even serious parenting can’t control teenager’s behavior.
We’ve got kids in this country whose parents are abusing them, schools with low standards and no money, kids whose lives are filled with video game babysitters, lots and lots of young adult parents on meth, crack, and heroin (the grandparents are raising the kids). There are so many problems associated with kids that are already here and no one is as worried about them as some of us are worried about the unborn.
I say. Let’s get going on raising the standard of life for all children. If we do that, few will need to worry about whether to have an unwanted child.

Those who want to “cut and run” favor surrender? I guess 60% of Americans favor surrender then (for an example).

That’s why I also stressed that she was in the far right corner of that 40%

Assuming that those who say that abortion should be “mostly illegal,” include those who think it should be legal only for rape, incest, and life of the mother, once you take away those who believe that rape and incest are legitimate reasons for an abortion, how much of that 40% is left? I’m guessing not very much.

I will not argue with anyone’s right to practice their faith as they see fit. However, it becomes a serious issue when people have an agenda to legislate their personal religious views. The founding fathers knew what they were doing when they decided on the “Separation of Church and State”

Religious freedom also means freedom from religion. Not all of us practice the same flavor of Christianity, or even Christianity itself. Why any of us should be forced to observe someone else’s flavor because it was mandated by law is just plain wrong.

Even if only 40% of the population of the USA disagree with you,

calling 120 million people “extremist” who do not agree with you is a poor use to the word.

Radicalism-

1 : the quality or state of being extreme
2 : advocacy of extreme measures or views : radicalism

1 a: marked by a considerable departure from the usual or traditional : extreme b: tending or disposed to make extreme changes in existing views, habits, conditions, or institutions c: of, relating to, or constituting a political group associated with views, practices, and policies of extreme change d: advocating extreme measures to retain or restore a political state of affairs

It might rightly be claimed that by calling the traditional values and norms extremist, you define yourself as a radical.

Therefore the application of “extremist” to moral values that have lasted the extent of recorded history may rightly be viewed as an extreme, radical statement.

Well, considering that only around 40% of Americans typically think that abortion should be “mostly illegal” and Palin holds one of the most rightmost of the “mostly illegal” positions (she does think it should be legal in cases where the life of the mother is at stake, at least), then she is most definitely in the minority of the minority of Americans when it comes to abortion.

OK!! I’ve read all the comments from our dear friends in Alaska. I see some well made points,however, only a few hit me in the guts ,having marched on washinton after Nixon invaded Cambodia. The true beauty of this election is that it won’t be held “in the streets” as I predicted…Remember at age 58 I am amongst those ,non-apathetic,wealthy ,gory mongering, though some would say overeducated , would-be – politicos tossing around references to us boomers as “whiners” ala John McCain.
However four the last 4 years I have chose not to workbut to take care of my mother who is dying of dementia(prognosis- 2-8 weeks)
Being I reside in the statae with the highest ate of unemployment in the nation,Michigan,I cn’t help ut think as I watch everything around me fade away and die with no hope for recovery..When my mother dies in weeks ,the house will be gone(reverse mortgage) and I may be sleeing in my car.
Will Mcain and Palin kep and bring jobs to my state, hell no they could care less….Is it igh on their agenda to stop tax breaks to weathy a**holes, like GM who out surced 15 million jobs to Mexico and China? Hell no they could care less….As a caregiver for 4 years with no income or health insurance do they care …NO!!! I just broke a thumb tending to my mother(remember 24/7, 365 for 4 yrs. and have an $8500 hospital bill,$3000 in orthopedic visits…My point is Michigan not only is lacking federal funding for health care..;.but has closed it’s medicaid program to any new applicants…..Do Bush and his clone McCain give a damn….No…..When I have to deal with my mother’s death in weeks or months what will happen to the caregiver….not whining ,but concerned….because my very rational friends have said, “So ho cares for the caregver”….Answer Nobody!!!! Does the Republican party? Where is it on their agenda?…Answer …It isn’t…..They are self-serving,millionaire pandering, extremely vehement,re: “take care of yourself”…f*** that …What do u think under a republican infrastructure…Will I find a job at age 58,(with a ton of experience, in sales and mgmt.) find work in Michigan….Heck No…I have an 11 yr. old son whom I adore…And it hurts me to say the best optio I see for he and myself is to move where there is work. Yhe really unfortunate part of ths is he lives with his mother and I will go where there is work…One of the best places in N. America is Vancouver B.C………This is just wrong!! With a government who gave in the last 4 yrs. 40 billion in tax breaks to GM only to have them move everything to China and Mexico….I wrote my governor,Jennifer Granholm, and sai being it’s the top 3 foreign car makers that employ Americans,we should not allow them to sell their Escalades or anything else, let the drug cartel in S. America buy them …They have in my opinion committed treason….and should e banned from importing their product here.
Sorry for rambling but the McCain/Palin ticket won’t do anything but the same that lil’ pr*** has done for the last 8 years.

And should McCain die in office wheredoes that leave us???? with a Commander in Chief who’s biggest confrontation with(local government) is attacking her forer brother in law….Every woman I have talked to in my state is absolutely livid at this political pandering ,to put a totally unqualified individual one heartbeat away from running this country…to quote them “This a last ditch attempt to shake it up tho it will turn around and bite him in the butt”These women are insulted and disgusted.
Oh and if u wanna call me a whiner walk a 36 hr. day in my shoes and wonder if you will ever work again>>>>>I dare you particularly all u self righteous zealot religios women…..u want my job? m Like Obama said …’Bring it on” all I would add is “bi**h.

Crazy scary… Don’t agree with all of Obama’s politics… but I grew up conservative and Christian and the….blind passion that the group has terrifies me. Especially in political office. Makes the Christian Right SO EASY to manipulate! Religion has no place in politics. Anyways–have you seen the pics of SP with her baby?? That’s what will win her the votes.

A few points:

The failed measure would have required doctors to provide medical attention to fetuses born alive during a rare type of abortion procedure. Keyes pointed out a similar measure sailed through Congress. But there was a major difference between the state and federal versions: the federal one stripped out any language that could have been used to challenge the landmark Roe v. Wade abortion legalization decision. Despite that, Keyes continues to hammer Obama with the “infanticide” charge virtually daily on the campaign trial. Obama, who pointed out state law already required doctors to care for fetuses born alive during botched abortions, said he’s “deeply offended” by Keyes’ assertion because he knows it’s false.

2) yes, opposing abortion even in cases of rape is extremist. She effectively answered that she would force her children to carry the child of a rapist. And yes, it would be SHE would force as she supports parental consent laws as well.

3) Yes, teaching creationism, which has no basis in science whatsoever, in science class is extremist.

4) Yes, opposing making polar bears endangered because it would make it harder to drill is extremist.
